AIDS Pastoral Care/Camp Getaway
 
Camp Getaway provides a week-long camp experience for families both infected and affected by HIV/AIDS. PAC funds support this opportunity for families to rejuvenate, strengthen and develop a sense of community among participants.
 
 
Camp Kindle
 
Camp Kindle provides children infected with or affected by HIV/AIDS a week-long camp experience in Nebraska. PAC funds will help children from the Chicago area attend this camp, children who would have never even thought of camp as an option for themselves.
 
 
Chicago House
 
The Bridges Program at Chicago House offers educational opportunities as well as tutoring sessions, mentoring relationships and support services for homeless families affected by HIV for children ages 13-18. PAC’s Jr. Committee has a strong link to the Bridges Program and it is our hope that PAC dollars will help each child build a solid foundation for the future.
 
 
Chicago Women’s AIDS Project
 
Chicago Women’s AIDS Project has a long history of helping to empower women by offering a strong network of referral and support services to HIV affected women and their children. PAC’s grant will be a partial support of ongoing psychosocial support services for HIV+ women, childcare during support group, camp and after school activities.
 
 
Children’s Memorial Hospital
 
Children’s Memorial Hospital is a major institution providing services to women, children and families infected and affected by HIV/AIDS in Chicago, providing care for 254 children, adolescents and families. This year, PAC monies will help fund an HIV educator with the goal of harm reduction education and include supplies and materials. The educator will work in collaboration with the Illinois Department of Public Health for women requesting public aid assistance. The program is directed at adolescent females of childbearing age and running workshops that will help young women make informed choices about risk reduction behavior.
 
 
CORE Center
 
The Ruth M. Rothstein CORE Center is a free standing building across from Stroger Cook County Hospital and is dedicated to serving children and families infected and affected by HIV/AIDS. PAC funding this year will provide “niceties” that impact the quality of life for its young patients. Post blood draw supplies, newborn bundles, playroom supplies and a medical adherence program will benefit from PAC support this year.
 
 
Lake County Health Department
 
Lake County Health Department and Community Health Center educates thousands of adolescents and high school youth annually. PAC is proud to award a grant to our only Lake County recipient for the very important work in HIV prevention and risk reduction counseling for high risk adolescents ages 12-19 in Lake County. PAC’s grant provides funding which is NOT available from the government.
 
 
Mount Sinai Hospital
 
Mount Sinai is a community based hospital servicing the southwest and west sides of Chicago. The Pediatric and Adolescent HIV program at Mount Sinai provides care for HIV infected families in the North Lawndale area which has one of the highest welfare, public aid and incidences of HIV infection in the city. PAC’s grant will help provide case management services for children infected and affected by AIDS.
 
 
University of Chicago
 
Serving Chicago’s south side HIV infected and affected children, University of Chicago treats the whole patient in humane ways regardless of ability to pay. With the support of Pediatric AIDS Chicago the University of Chicago will focus on improving medical adherence for children and adolescents living on our city’s south side.
 
 
University of Illinois Hospital
 
The University of Illinois Medical Adherence Program enhances the compliance of children on HIV medication among HIV infected children. Our PAC grant will give salary support to two PharmD’s who individualize medical adherence regimens and education for 44 children with HIV.
 
 
Vision House
 
Vision House serves Chicago’s south side by providing permanent supportive housing for 53 low income or formerly homeless individuals and families living with HIV/AIDS. With the support of Pediatric AIDS Chicago, Vision House will be launching a “Mother’s Day Off” project, providing Moms with a respite care provider for their children that give them a much needed day off.
 
 
Vital Bridges
 
Vital Bridges is a partnership of several long established agencies offering support to families living with AIDS. The agency continues to offer food and nutrition counseling for clients infected with HIV/AIDS. In these economically troubled times Vital Bridges plays an even more vital role for families across Chicago. PAC funds will provide groceries and nutrition counseling through community-based grocery centers for young clients infected with HIV/AIDS.
 
 
Women’s Equity in Access to Care & Treatment for HIV WE-ACTx
 
WE-ACTx is a grassroots HIV treatment and care project in Rwanda. With the help of Pediatric AIDS Chicago, WE-ACTx will be able to hire 2 pediatric nurses for their center who will assess and counsel 1200 HIV infected and 3000 HIV affected children ages 12 and under.
 
 
Pediatric AIDS Chicago Prevention Initiative
 
Pediatric AIDS Chicago Prevention Initiative is an unprecedented city-wide collaboration of public and private partners launched in late 2000 with the goal of eliminating transmission of the HIV virus from mothers to their newborn children and eliminate deaths from HIV/AIDS. PAC serves as the fundraising arm of this initiative and is proud to offer support to this important venture.
